EHS Tardy Procedure

For the duration of the 2025-2026 school year, Elgin High School staff will use the following procedure to address study tardies to class: 
 

  1. A weekly report will be pulled each Monday for students that earned 1 or more tardies (to any combination of classes) in the previous week.
     

  2. Students who appear on that list will be assigned consequences as follows:
     

    1. 4 Tardies: A notification will go home (via blackboard/email) informing parents and students of tardies earned.
       

    2. 5-9 Tardies: A notification will go home (via blackboard/email) informing parents and students of tardies earned and students will be assigned lunch detention. (Detentions will be posted in the cafeteria hallway)
       

    3. 10-14 Tardies: A notification will go home (via blackboard/email) informing parents and students of tardies earned and students will be assigned 60 minutes (1 Hour) after school detention. (Detentions will be posted in the cafeteria hallway)
       

    4. 15-19 Tardies: A notification will go home (via blackboard/email) informing parents and students of tardies earned and students will be assigned 120 minutes (2 Hour) after school detention. Students will complete an intervention and sign a contract. The Dean will have a parent meeting. (Detentions will be posted in the cafeteria hallway)
       

    5. More than 20 Tardies: Students will earn 4 periods of ISI.  The Assistant Principal of Culture and Climate will have a parent meeting.
